The Garfield School District RE-2 has an opening for a part time Special Education Secretary for the 2017-2018 school year. This position will be part time at about 22 hours per week.
General Description of the Role
This position will provide support to the Director of Special Education and Special Education Providers by providing outstanding customer service. This person will serve as the initial contact for special education providers when they need assistance with the IEP Process and web based IEP system, Enrich.

Major Areas of Responsibility and Duties Specific to this Job
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Special Education
- Work closely with Special Education Providers, district staff, and BOCES staff to accurately maintain and validate the online IEP system with current student information, including all reporting requirements (October 1 Count, December 1 Count, and End-of-Year Report)
- Process submitted IEPs and review for accuracy and compliance
- Work with district school secretaries to ensure data between systems correlate
- Work directly with the Special Education Records Manager to ensure accurate reporting
- Archive IEPs within fifteen (15) calendar days after the IEP meeting
- Notify Special Education Providers of upcoming Annual and Triennial IEP meetings
- Distribute IEP forms as requested
- Assist Special Education Providers and BOCES staff with CDE IEP forms questions
- Provide Request IEP Translation form to teacher of record/case manager to distribute to parents at IEP meetings
- Attend and contribute to district and BOCES meetings as required
- Field telephone calls and handle correspondence
- Order and maintain Special Education Secretary supplies
- Communicate with others about computer/technology issues
- Manage/update caseloads on spreadsheets
- Email/Mail notices for IEP paperwork
- Scan documents
- Other duties as assigned
