Position Summary: The Affective Needs (AN) Special Education Teacher works in a self-contained classroom for students whose educational needs center on the development of social-emotional regulation skills along with building academic skills in areas of need. The AN teacher needs to employ skills to understand students’ behavioral patterns who exhibit a wide range of characteristics, including but not limited to aggressive behaviors, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, depression, and anxiety or conduct disorders and create behavior plans to address areas of need.  Monitors, supervises, coordinates interventions and programming for assigned students, and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with program guidelines. Observes, evaluates, reports and supports students' performance including behavior and social skills learning. Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic needs. Responsible for working effectively with a team of paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, parents and District office staff with the purpose of providing quality educational services for each and every student, each and every day, without exception.

Salary Range: $44,731 (BA+0 step 0) to MA+56 step 40 $122,741
